Nate Shaffer is a master improviser, a great singer, educator, and a world-class musician. Equally comfortable in the concert hall and at the comedy club, Nate performed in over 800 shows at ImprovBoston from 2013-2020, including shows with their MainStage and National Touring Company. An award-winning student composer and pianist at Brandeis University, he earned a BA with honors in piano performance, and currently studies composition at Tufts University.
As an improv comedian and music director, he has performed at famed improv stages across the country, including iO (Chicago), UCB (NYC), ImprovAsylum (Bos), The Magnet (NYC), and the Out of Bounds festival in Austin TX.
As a singer, he has performed at the SPEBSQSA International Barbershop contest, Carnegie Hall, and as a singer-songwriter at venues and restaurants across Boston & New England.
A master of improvisation with the earnestness of a child and the finesse of a world-class musician, his show creates a magical sense of aliveness and possibility. By including audience suggestions, interviews and interactions, he virtuosically spins a tapestry of spontaneity, joy, and melodies.
In his shows, the audience becomes the focal point and celebrated feature of the event.
With years of experience in musical theatre, songwriting, improv comedy, stand up, teaching children, classical piano, jazz and singing, he brings it all together for a live show unlike any other.
